Work Experience - Received a U.S. Patent on
a medical claims integration and data analysis system that integrates all inpatient,
outpatient, ambulatory, clinical laboratory, and prescription drug claim data
into episodes of care by medical condition (Cave et al, Patent Number 5,970,463).
The system is designed to measure practitioner efficiency and quality of care,
identify chronic disease patients at high-risk for future medical expenses, and
adjust practitioner payment rates for the health status of a covered population.
- Viewed as a thought leader in the development of software systems for practitioner
efficiency and quality evaluation, healthcare cost containment and quality improvement,
pharmacoeconomic research, and predictive modeling of healthcare expenditures.
- Involved in defending the enforceability of a software patent that measures
the quality and efficiency of medical care--providing opinions regarding the
materiality of references with respect to the subject matter of the claims.
- Involved
in all aspects of the patent application process, including the writing of the
claims, preamble to the claims, and embodiment to the claims.
- Understand
patent law regulations, including the duty of candor and good faith, inequitable
conduct, requirements of enablement and written description, and infringement.
